I was surprised when I saw Marc DeCosta's name. I remember how much fun Marc and I had in the sixth grade. We used to play touch football everyday afterschool, me, Marc, Mark Tuminelli, and Steve Weinberg. Inspite of the pain that Marc lived with so often in his childhood, he never complained that I knew, and just cracked me up, made me and others laugh every day. I remember him fondly.

What a wonderful gift to remember classmates. I graduated in 1958 and my brother, Kurt in 1956. I must say I was so stunned to see so many young people with so few years to share their gifts. My brother and I both nearly died, heart attack, and a childbirth complication that was unexpected. We are still here but so many names I can picture today yound rock and rollers. I often think at 62, humanity is an ocean wave and we move along toward the front one good friend after the other moves on hear and there as the wave curves and then the wave breaks and more pass on to a very special place. My college class has lost very few which makes it more poignantand unexpected. You have given us all a special gift and touched the hearts and brought us together as classmates. I remember Harvey Levenson the twin , and Delores Padget,Clyde Melick I think my brother's prom date Nancy Peterson, with the picture set in a heart. Bless you and the best of health, to you and all my surviving classmates.

John Giordano ('74) just called me and sent me to this site. It certainly makes you step back for a moment from our busy lives and think about people like Paul Waters or Mark Schwartzberg. Paul dated my sister, Marsha in HS and was someone I looked up to (literally - he was 6' 6".) Mark was a warm, bright, funny guy. We shared the same birthday and I am now very close friends with his younger brother Steve. I wonder what Mark & Paul would have accomplished now 30 years after they died. It's a shame, but at the same time it's nice to remember.

Just last week I dug out my yearbook to show a young colleague what I looked like back then and to also show her that I am indeed capable of smiling. She remains unconvinced! This inspired me to search the web for any sites related to the class of '69 reunions none of which I ever attended. Ironically I found nothing. Where are the rest of you? I never felt that close to my classmates except for a very few which was the product of the circumstances of the time but I still felt like I was part of the group however limited my involvement (I was the A-V geek in case you don't remember). So it still fills me with sadness to see the names of people who I rubbed shoulders with while we all worked toward common but separate goals. Nancy Smith, I too am glad that I became your lab partner in Mr Kutey's physics class in our senior year. We made quite a team. I will treasure the time we shared working together. I pray that all of you who have left us so prematurely are in a much better place than this world presents us with. God Bless us all. "It's so good to be alive when the eulogies are read." Mindy Thank you for all of your love and hard work trying to keep us all connected. I was extremely touched by finding my sister NANCY DECOSTA's name included in this Wall of dedication. We lost Nancy Feb 11th 1990 in a tragic motorcycle accident. needless to say I have never been the same. Everyone Who knows me, knows that I also miss my good friend Nancy Mckenna. Not a day goes by even after all these years, without thinking of her in one tender way or another. Johnny Biggins, Patrice G, John Squadrido and I all shared laughs and got into a lot of trouble together during our childhoood. Unfortunately working at Nassau County Medical Center for over 23 years, I have been shocked and saddened all too often by my family, friends and neighbors with out warning. I thank God for the many miracles that I can attest to, But I also ache for those who have not made it through. My heart goes out to all who reflect here. Mindy I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is truly a somber yet beautiful place. Your Classmate And Friend Susan DeCosta

I am shocked and saddened to read that Sue Hinz is only a vivid and fixed memory. I can still see her short brown hair creased by night¿s rollers, and bangs that just hours before had been taped to her forehead. Her imperfect teeth fixed and peering out from beneath a smile; set upon a clean, fresh, freckled face. Her straight, thick, brown, eye- lashes obscuring her blue eyes when ever she glanced down. I see her playing on the Hockey Field, perspiration wicking up her straight bangs, forming dark separations in her hair while more formidable droplets glisten on her sun burned cheeks. Funny, her life seemed to hold such promise. A ¿Physical Education Teacher¿ was her goal and last I heard she was well on her way; enrolled somewhere in Cortland NY. I always imagined that we would meet up again, though I guess we have! Sue, to you, my glass full and held high one last toast to say good bye!

It all seems so long ago, but I have memories that are with me each day. Friends we went to school with, some for 12 years and some we just knew in passing, but the names are still familiar. Memories of seven year old birthday parties, junior high jitters, high school crushes and good times together. We all took our first steps into the real world from Wantagh, look where we have gone. Look at the world we live in today and say thank you Lord for the days we spent in Wantagh.

I was so very sad to see the names of several people I grew up with on this list. Some I was aware of so not. I left New York in 1974 and ended up graduating in Los Angeles in 1975. Talk about culture shock back them!!! I still do have 99% of all my friends from Wantagh and it has been wonderful. Sadly I now know what happened to others I did lose touch with. I think the biggest shock to me was to see 3 girls I new and I knew well. Elizabeth Sowadsky we both lived on Blus Spruce Lane and we grew up togethor I remember when her family moved to our block. She was so sweet and I always wondered what her life became. Elizabeth was an influence on me with the love of music in my life. I do not know if she ever really new that. But i never forgot her and Inever will. Allmost anyone who knows me knows the story I tell about always having to learn the words to every song I ever loved or pretty much ever heard because she always used to test me on my knowledge. If a song were playing on the radio or whereever Liz would say ok tjis one is yours singit!! And if I did not know thewors boy would she tease me. So there you have I am so sad to find she has gone. I am truley sorry to her family and closest friends. How did this happen, why did this happen. The good really do die young. the other 2 girls were Nancy Decosta who lived around the cornor from me and was always very kind and swet to me when others were not. Here family was very nice and I am sorry for thier loss. The other girl is Janice Benderman we were not friends that ever hung out but we certainly knew eachother and she to was a nice person. Again I am sorry to her family for her loss. There are several others but I new they were gone and to all of the famlies of, Ann Apicella, Michael Swart (we were good friends), David Brown, Marc Decosta, Linder Gunderman ( I always remember her as such a lost soul, but so very sweet and nice to everyone), Nancy Mkenna ( our class beauty sadly she never belived in herself enough. Nancy was a wonderful friend!!!)Last but not least Ricky OConner the best "Greaser if you'll pardon the sterotype. Ricky too I always felt was very lost but a sweet sweet gut even for a "Greaser". So to all our friends from Wantagh who we have all lost. You may be gone from our earth but never from our thoughts and memories. Thank you for this chance to air my opinons and feelings It has truley allowed me to come to terms with some missing old friends and I now know where they have gone. Thinking of you all, Elyse Stern Perrone class of 1975 in my heart
